Bath flanker Francois Louw has been charged with "acts contrary to good sportsmanship" by the RFU, it was confirmed on Wednesday.

Louw has been cited for an alleged eye-gouge of Courtney Lawes during Bath's narrow defeat to Northampton last Saturday, and will appear in front of an RFU disciplinary panel in Bristol on Thursday.

A statement released by the RFU read: "Francois Louw will appear before an RFU Disciplinary panel charged with acts contrary to good sportsmanship, contrary to law 10.4(m).

"In the second half of the Aviva Premiership match between Northampton Saints and Bath Rugby on 30 April, the Bath flanker allegedly made contact with the eye(s) or the eye area of Courtney Lawes.

"The player was subsequently cited after the match."
