Eden Park bid an emotional farewell to Michael Jones on Saturday, with Auckland taking their 12th NPC title.
The home side overcame Wellington 24-18 in a great game, which was in no way devalued by the absence of several World Cup stars.

Wellington fought back in the second half and Filo Tiatia, who has had a superb NPC, scored a try with only minutes remaining but it was not enough to deny Auckland.

David Holwell had scored the first Wellington try and added a conversion and two penalties.

For Auckland Caleb Ralph and Charles Riechelmann both scored but it was the kicking of Adrian Cashmore that made the difference, as he landed a conversion and four penalties.
