NZRFU Chief Executive David Moffett as been appointed as head of Australian rugby league organisation, the NRL.
Moffett, who is an Australian, has done a successful job in New Zealand, at a time when the game was going through the birth pangs associated with the move to professionalism.
His appointment coupled with the recent comments of Australian Rugby Union boss, John O'Neill, who suggested that League would eventually disappear because of its lack of global appeal, have set in motion some very interesting speculation. What is the likelihood that league and union could move even closer together in Australia?
