Lomu: The saga continues
November 7, 1999

An article in today's edition of the Auckland -based ' Sunday Star-Times ' has offered a new angle on the continuing saga of where Jonah is going.
Apparently the IRB and the NZRFU are as one in wanting Jonah, by a country mile New Zealand's best performer at the World Cup, to remain in New Zealand so that he is available when the professional sevens circuit is launched in the new year.
The shortened form of the game will be taken off the beaten track and Jonah is regarded as the perfect ambassador to take rugby to parts previously unreached. NZRFU Chairman Rob Fisher said, "Jonah would be a great asset in terms of promoting the new sevens circuit and that's something the IRB are aware of. Certainly if we can sign Jonah again we'd like to see him playing in Wellington in the New Year in the first of our international sevens tournaments."
