Telfer resigns from Southland

Southland NPC coach Bob Telfer has resigned with one year of his three-year contract remaining.
Southland finished bottom of the First Division in 1999, a draw with neighbours Otago all they had to show for their season. In 1998 they managed 2 home wins and Telfer's departure was not unexpected.

The concern for all in Southland must be that their best players, no 8 Paul Miller in particular , will move elsewhere before the start of the next NPC season.
