Osborne going to France
November 13, 1999
North Harbour and All Black utility back Glen Osborne is about to sign for French club Biarritz, who have already signed his team mate Frano Botica.
Osborne, who has been out of form, unfit and out of favour since making a big impact on the 1995 World Cup is still a superb player and reminded everyone of this in his only World Cup 1999 appearance against Italy in Huddersfield.
He would be a major loss to New Zealand as his versatility allows him to play at full back , in the centre or on the wing. In a chilling reminder of the commercial times he has said that he doubted that the NZRFU could better the offer of his prospective employers.
