Sponsors Heineken are to launch a £340,000 publicity campaign to raise the profile of the European Cup.
The brewing giant confirmed their £8million involvement in the competition last week, buut despite the lack of time available to promote the event, James Dickson, Scotland and Ireland director of Heineken's parent company Whitbread, says his company will still receive value for money.
"We would have liked more time but we have signed up for a four-year period and this is just the start," he said. "I am a rugby fan and I have been disappointed with the lack of life in the Scottish game. We want our investment to work and get the atmosphere back."
ERC director Norman Douglas said: "We have run out of time in one sense but we are very upbeat about the whole thing. There is an awful lot on offer for the game and the sponsor. We want to create a passion for the competition and I am sure it is going to evolve into something big."
