Flanker faces brawl rap

Grenoble captain Willy Taofifenua faces disciplinary action following the mass brawl that scarred last week's Heineken Cup clash against Edinburgh Reivers in Gala.

Taofifenua was cited by Reivers officials for punching during an ugly post-match incident as both teams made their way off the pitch.

TV cameras showed Taofifenua punching flanker Graham Dall.

Tournament director Roger Pickering has recommended to European Rugby Cup Limited disciplinary chiefs that action should be taken.

Reivers chief executive Nick Oswald presented details of the incident at ERC's Dublin headquarters today.

Under ERC disciplinary procedures, Taofifenua's citing could not be dealt with because the incident happened after full-time, but Pickering believes that the 36-year-old does have a case to answer.

``Both clubs, and the players concerned, will be offered the opportunity to be present at the hearing and make representations to the disciplinary committee,'' read an ERC statement.

``The disciplinary committee will meet in Dublin at the earliest convenient date possible for all parties concerned in the matter.''
