Jones-Hughes Newport debut delayed
November 25, 1999

Newport's latest recruit, Jason Jones-Hughes' Welsh club debut has been put on hold after the club were informed that he was ineligible for the pool stages of the European Shield.
Although the Australian-born Wales centre was included in the list of Newport players 'registered' for the competition his clearance from New South Wales did not arrive in time.
Should Newport qualify from the group stages of the Shield then Jones-Hughes can be nominated by Newport as one of two new players eligible to play from the quarter-finals onwards.
The former Randwick and NSW Warathas player famously switched to Wales ahead of the recent World Cup, and made his debut for the land of his father in the World Cup opener against Argentina. He is now likely to make his debut for his new club in the Welsh/Scottish league clash at Cardiff on the 4th December
