Maclean to succeed Templeton

Former Wallaby fly half Paul McLean has been elected President of the Queensland Rugby Union, in succession to the late Bob Templeton, who died last week.

McLean made his test debut in 1974 and made 30 test appearances before retiring in 1982.In all, he scored 260 test points.

The QRU also announced ambitious plans to expand its operation, including the employment of 19 new development officers. In the wake of Australia's second World Cup triumph of the 90s , there is a wave of optimism sweeping through rugby union circles.
