Te Pou to remain as Maori coach
December 16, 1999

Matt Te Pou has been reappointed coach to the New Zealand Maori for 2000.

In addition, he will work closely with the Maori Rugby Board, Whakapumautanga Incorporated, work with other national selectors to unearth new playing talent and make recommendations for selections to the NZRFU academy squad.

Since taking over the coaching of the New Zealand Maori team 5 years ago, Te Pou has put together an unbeaten run of 21 matches. Their most recent victory was an emphatic win over Fiji as the islanders prepared for the World Cup.

The NZRFU are working on an end of year tour for the New Zealand Maori in 2000, but so far there are no details about possible destinations.
