Crawford to coach Portugal
December 22, 1999

NZRFU Manager of rugby development, Evan Crawford, is to vacate his post to resume full time coaching in Portugal.

Crawford coached, very successfully, the NZ Secondary Schools squad from 1993-96 and was recently part of the special 6 man committee appointed to recommend the new All Black coach.

He has been appointed technical adviser to the Portuguese National, under 23 and under 19 teams from Februsry 2000 until February 2001, before taking over the senior National coaching position for the following 2 years. He will also help establish development programmes throughout Portugal.

Crawford said today, "I hope this appointment is a step in the right direction for when I return to New Zealand in the future."
