Teichmann returns against leaders
Former Springbok captain Gary Teichmann returns to the Newport starting line-up for the first time in a month when he lines up against Welsh/Scottish league leaders Pontypridd on Monday.
"It has been a frustrating few weeks but it's great to be back. I played for South Africa at Sardis Road in 1994 and the atmosphere was wonderful. I am sure it will be the same again, Pontypridd are going well," said the back row forward.
Meanwhile Cardiff are expected to field a much changed side for the game against Neath, despite the fact that if they win and Pontypridd lose they could go top for the first time this season. With their crucial European tie against Montferrand at the weekend coach Lynn Howells is expected to rest some key players for the league clash.
Swansea who lost at Llanelli last week face Caerphilly and will be without fly half Arwel Thomas, who has a knee injury. His place will go to Lee Davis with Matthew Robinson also expected to return to the wing.
Swansea have struggle in recent weeks in the league and will see this game as the ideal opportunity to get back on track.
"We are not going to take Caerphilly lightly especially as we struggled to win up at Virginia Park at the start of the season," said coach Jon Plumtree. "But we want to start the new century off with a bang and we are going to give it our all in our next three games. We are going to get stuck in and get the passion back."
