Queensland fear World Cup backlash

The Queensland Reds fear they will be the target for revenge when the Super 12 season kicks off due to the success of the national side.

The Reds have a total of 11 World Cup winning Wallabies in their squad including several recovering from injury.

The player of last year's tournament Tim Horan is steadily working back to full fitness, joining the likes of his Wallaby teammates John Eales (hernia), Ben Tune (shoulder), Daniel Herbert (wrist/knee) and Matt Cockbain (knee).

"It's a big season and we have to be mentally prepared especially with Queensland having a lot of the players from that squad," Horan said. "Teams will be out to beat us and then the Wallabies, the same way we wanted to beat South Africa after they won the 1995 World Cup. It's a challenge for the players but it's a season I'm looking forward to."

Queensland coach John Connolly said "There's always concerns with hangovers (World Cup) but what we've done so far is okay. The good thing was that they were all there and they trained well and now we just have to keep our fingers crossed."

They begin their campaign aginst Otago on February 26th.
