England face a showdown against Australia at Twickenham when the world champions embark on a short tour of the northern hemisphere in November.

The Wallabies will play three Tests, including a World Cup final rematch against France, the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) announced today.

The third Test has still to be arranged against another of the six-nations teams, with Scotland at Murrayfield the possible choice. An ARU spokesman said the tour details had still to be finalised.

The World Cup winners will play 10 Tests this year, starting with the first match of a two-Test series against Argentina in Brisbane on June 17. The second is seven days later in Canberra.

South Africa then arrive in Melbourne for a match on July 8 before the annual Tri-nations series against New Zealand and the Springboks.
