Missing Romanian players report dismissed
A spokesman for the Connacht branch of the IRFU today dismissed a report that two Steaua Bucharest players had walked out on their team after their 41-7 defeat by the provincial side on Saturday and were now missing in the Galway area.
A report earlier today had quoted Romanian Rugby Union Federation president Sorin Fuicu as saying that: "Young players Daniel Lazarescu and Adrian Ghita stayed back in Galway, refusing to get on the bus taking the team to Dublin airport."
But, speaking to Irish Journalists on Monday evening Gerry Kelly, Chief Executive of the IRFU's Connacht branch, maintained that the two players had left the country.
"As far as I'm aware there are no Romanians missing. I have checked it out with the hotel and with the coach driver that took them to the airport.
"He confirmed that they all travelled and that they were on their way to France to play at the weekend."
