January 11, 2000

Princess Anne will be here on February 5 to watch Scotland take on Italy in the opening match of the new Six Nations championship, the Italian rugby federation announced on Monday.

The match is seen here as the crowning achievement of Italian rugby after winning themselves a place among the European elite and effectively ending the Five Nations format, which also comprises England, Wales, Ireland and France.

Princess Anne is the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and has long been a keen supporter of Scottish rugby.
