Leslie out of running for Fiji job
January 12, 2000

Ex-All Black skipper Andy Leslie has cited family reasons for his withdrawal from the race to find a coach to take charge of the Fijian national team in succession to Brad Johnstone.

This leaves 3 candidates from the original 17 who applied - Ex- Counties-Manukau and Auckland Blues assistant coach Mac MaCallion, former Wallaby coach Greg Smith and ex-Wallaby lock Duncan Hall.

New Zealander McCallion is being interviewed in Auckland today, then the interviewing panel will travel to Fiji to speak to the 2 Australians. A decision is possible by the end of the week, with reports from Fiji suggesting that Smith is firm favourite to get the job.
