Paterson returns for Reivers
January 12, 2000
Scotland World Cup player Chris Paterson returns to the Edinburgh Reivers side for their Heineken European Cup match against Grenoble in France on Saturday.
Paterson's return to European rugby means that Scotland international Cammie Murray reverts to the right wing in place of Kenny Milligan.
But Reivers are still without international full-back Derrick Lee whose shoulder injury has failed to clear up in time.
"We decided not to risk him," said Reivers coach Ian Rankin, who has selected the same set of forwards that finished against Neath last Friday.
Injured flanker Ian Sinclair will, however, miss the match on Saturday.
"Ian will be out for six weeks after picking up a ligament injury," revealed Rankin.
Reivers will be bidding to become the first Scottish team to win a European Cup game in France and Rankin believes it is not an impossible task.
"There certainly was an invincibility about French teams playing in France. But Irish, Welsh and English sides have shown that they are beatable.
"The other point is that we've played much more often in France in recent seasons and are getting used to it."
Reivers are expecting to receive a specialist's report on Alan Tait later today and will make an announcement regarding the future of the Scotland and Lions centre later this week.
