Stade Francais faced with legal threat

Leinster, who despite their excellent away win against Leicester failed to reach the quarter finals of the European Cup are considering taking legal action against group winners Stade Francais.
Stade, who are set to face Munster at Thomond Park on April 15 are alleged by Leinster of having fielded an ineligible player Brian Lima at Donnybrook in December.
Although Leinster won that game 24-23, the playing of the unregistered Samoan international was clearly in breach of the rules of the competition. Leinster officials are meeting with their legal advisers to determine whether or not to lodge a protest with European Rugby World Cup Ltd.
Leinster appear to have a good case as already a precedent has been set in relation to ineligible players. On Friday the tournament organisers awarded London Irish a place in the European Shield knockout stages after French side Agen were docked four points for fielding ineligible players.
If Leinster decide to appeal and are successful there is then the mouth-watering prospect of an all Irish European Cup showdown at Thomond Park.
