Seymour to miss Wellington sevens

Veteran New Zealand sevens star Dallas Seymour has been forced to withdraw from this weekend's Wellington round of the World Series sevens because of injury.

Thirty-one year old Seymour , who made his sevens debut as long ago as 1988, has been battling against a lower back injury. Coach Gordon Tietjens said, ' When a player as dedicated as Dallas tells you he is not right , it leaves you with no doubts in your mind.After representing New Zealand in tournaments all over the world , it is very disappointing for Dallas not to be playing in front of a home crowd.'

Tietjens has reduced his original squad of 14 to 12, Wellington youngster Shannon Paku the other omission in addition to Seymour. The New Zealand squad arrived in Wellington on Monday evening and will train daily in preparation for the tournament which takes place on Friday and Saturday.The full squad is : Amasio Raoma, Malili Muliaina, Craig de Goldi, Justin Wilson, Caleb Ralph, Eric Rush ( captain) , Craig Newby, Karl Te Nana, Tony Monaghan, Jared Going, Christian Cullen, Jonah Lomu.
