Bath losses at £1m

Bath lost more than £1million last season, taking their deficit for the last two years to more than £2.7million.

The West Country club reported a loss of £1,087,000 up to the end of June, compared with a deficit on the previous year of £1,655,000.

The club blamed the heavy loss on English clubs' boycott of the European Cup and a delay in publishing the domestic fixture list, with Bath playing five of their first six League games at home.

However, the club say prospects for the future are brighter following the return of European rugby, the introduction of the salary cap and a tightening of cost controls.
