Andrews to miss start of Super 12
February 9, 2000

A knee injury is likely to sideline Springbok veteran Mark Andrews for 6 weeks.

Veteran South African lock Mark Andrews will miss the start to the Super 12 season due to a knee injury which is likely to take 6 weeks to mend.

This is a real blow to the Sharks who face a daunting start to their season with 4 away games in New Zealand and Australia.

They begin their campaign in Wellington against the Hurricanes before moving south to play the Highlanders in Dunedin.

They then move across the Tasman to play the Brumbies in Canberra and the Waratahs in Sydney on successive weekends.

Springbok Philip Smit has played twice for his country as a flanker but will lock the Sharks' scrum at least until Andrews is able to return.
