Newport face Llanelli in cup crunch
February 27, 2000

Newport and 10-times winners Llanelli will clash in the outstanding Welsh Cup quarter-final tie next month.
The Black and Ambers' 'reward' for beating Cardiff 22-13 last night is a daunting trip to Stradey Park on the weekend of March 25/26.
"It is going to be hard, but the main thing for us is that we've made the quarter-finals," said Newport rugby director and former Llanelli coach Allan Lewis.
Newport will probably have to travel west without the services of their former Bedford flanker Jason Forster, sent off against Cardiff and now facing suspension. Forster was dismissed during a sometimes ill-tempered tussle, which went Newport's way thanks to 17 points from Wales full-back Shane Howarth - a match winning performance just days after he resigned as club captain.
Quarter-final draw: Pontypridd v Llantrisant, Aberavon or Neath v Swansea,
Ebbw Vale v Bonymaen, Llanelli v Newport.
Ties to be played on March 25/26.
