Blues coach says getting the basics right is key to Sunday's game.

Auckland Blues coach Gordon Hunter is taking Sunday's game against the Waikato Chiefs very seriously, ignoring popular opinion that the Chiefs are not among the top contenders in the competition.

Hunter rates the Chiefs' coach , Ross Cooper , very highly.'I have great respect for Ross and his assistant , Kevin Greene.Their work with the Chiefs is underrated , as we saw from the game last week against the Crusaders. The Chiefs were in the game the full ninety minutes, and the Crusaders could take nothing for granted.'

Hunter is cautious despite the fact that the Blues have a good record against the Chiefs, with four wins in four years of Super 12 competition. He believes that the main element in achieving another win is getting the basics right.

'We're working on the basis that we'll have an extremely strong challenge on Sunday. We have to execute the basics strongly and do the hard graft with total concentration ,' he said.
