Jeremy Davidson and Kevin Maggs have been ruled out of Ireland's Six Nations Championship match against Italy at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.

Davidson, who plays his club rugby for Castres, was a replacement in the win over Scotland but has failed to recover from a knee injury. His place has gone to Paddy Johns, who moves up from the A squad.

Bath wing/centre Maggs failed a fitness test on a hamstring strain. He has not been replaced, with the squad reduced to 23 players.
