Italy lose Caione for Ireland clash

February 29, 2000

Italy will be without Carlo Caione for this weekend's Six Nations clash with Ireland in Dublin after the Roma third rower missed training through injury on Tuesday.

Italy's New Zealand coach Brad Johnstone has not called up a direct replacement, but has re-shuffled his scrum by bringing in Laurent Travini from Italy A and giving them Walter Cristofoletto in return.

The "Squadra Azzurra", who beat Scotland in their Six Nations opener but then lost to Wales, are currently training at Tirrenia, near Livorno on Italy's Mediterranean coast.
