February 29, 2000

New South Wales Waratahs' lock John Welborn was on Tuesday night found not guilty of trampling, by a South African Rugby Football Union (SARFU) disciplinary hearing here.
Welborn was cited for two incidents of alleged trampling during the second-half of Saturday's 22-15 Super 12 loss to the Western Stormers in Cape Town.
He was charged with transgressing Law 26 (3b) relating to trampling an opponent lying on the ground.
The committee's finding was unanimous and based on extensive video evidence, as well as representations by the player, the Waratahs coach and their legal representatives.
