Quinnell to go under the knife
March 27, 2000

Cardiff and Wales forward Craig Quinnell is to go into hospital tomorrow for surgery on his spine.
Quinnell picked up the injury while playing for Wales during the Rugby World Cup last October, and it was exacerbated when playing against England at Twickenham.
Even with extensive rehabilitation following the operation on the double-stress fractures at the base of his spine, Quinnell faces a battle to play again this season.
"Rehabilitation in these cases tend to be very individual, but we hope to make a more accurate assessment after the operation," said Cardiff team manager Robert Norster. "The medical team and Craig are very positive. It is a similar injury to that of Emyr Lewis, who has this season returned following surgery to his very best."
