McIlwham drafted in to replace Hilton
March 27, 2000

Following notification from the International Rugby Board that David Hilton is ineligible for Saturday's clash with England the Scotland management have called up Hiltons Glasgow colleague Gordon McIlwham
Hilton was informed by the SRU yesterday that, presently, he could not be considered for Scotland and at the same time McIlwham was told that he would join the squad in Hilton's place.
Scotland coach Ian McGeechan said: "We had pencilled in Gordon last week but we wanted to wait until after the match in Inverness yesterday before confirming the call-up to Gordon."
McIlwham, 30, was capped twice against Fiji and Australia in 1998, and has featured in the Scotland A team this season, having made a total of 10 appearances at that level.
