Braid to captain New Zealand at under 19 World Cup

Daniel Braid has been appointed to lead the New Zealand challenge at the forthcoming under 19 World Cup in France.

New Zealand will be defending the title it won at the 1999 tournament held in Wales. In the final they beat the host nation. For the duration of the tournament , New Zealand will be based in Lyon,with their first match being played on April 14 against Spain.

New Zealand, which is seeded 1 of the 16 teams competing , will have in its squad five players who competed in Wales in 1999: Tony Woodcock , Bradley Mika, Jason Shoemark, Gerrard Fasavalu and Mana Harrison. John Boe , the newly appointed coach of Samoa , and Mark Shaw, the ex All Black flanker,will again be responsible for the coaching of the side.
