Glasgow put tour to Canada on hold
April 11, 2000

Glasgow Caledonians have been forced to put their summer tour of Canada on hold until plans for the new British Cup have been finalised.

The Reds had been invited to play British Colombia and Alberta as part of their pre-season preparations.

But chief executive David Jordan is still waiting for confirmation of what format next season's fixtures will take before confirming the tour.

"We can't arrange anything because we have not seen our full fixture list for next term," said Jordan.

"The format of the British Cup will be all-important for our late summer schedule as the idea is for the initial stages to be played before leagues get underway.

"We'd very much like to go back to Canada because last year's trip was ideal preparation.

"But if the cup were inked in for early August then we would have to revise our thoughts."
