Jones toasts his Neath troops

Neath coach Lyn Jones saluted his side after they destroyed Bridgend with a free-flowing display in difficult conditions at The Gnoll.

The Welsh All Blacks made light of the mud and rain to run in seven tries in the Welsh-Scottish League encounter.

And Jones said after his team's 43-7 triumph, "It was a very good display. Once we settled we showed speed and skill against opponents who are not easy to subdue.

"We have been playing well for a few weeks. We have come good late in the season often in the past and it appears to be happening again."

For Neath, Kevin James and James Storey scored two tries each, with Duncan Jones, Adam Jackson and Tristan Davies also crossing.

Teenager James went over for his brace in four minutes before half time, showing power and pace and he broke the defence.

"He is a player with a big future," said team administrator Mike Cuddy. "He has come into the side and demonstrated tremendous promise. It is nice to see a youngster having such confidence."

Bridgend were in the game for much of the first half, but James' double shattered their challenge.

Their assistant coach Richard Webster said, "We let ourselves down a bit.

"We are a better side than this result suggests but on the night we did not play well.

"Full credit to Neath - they were very impressive."
