Burnell tempted by summer tour

Former Scotland prop Paul Burnell has admitted he is tempted by a recall from national coach Ian McGeechan for the summer tour of New Zealand and Fiji.

But Burnell insists he will wait to see if his French club side Montferrand will allow him to join up with the squad after McGeechan sent an SOS call.

``If Geech wants me to go and the club agreed, I would be interested because it is something I missed this year,'' said 34-year-old Burnell.

``Some of the guys have asked me if I fancied it and I thought `yes'. But I have to get my domestic situation sorted out first.

``I don't want to compromise my position at Montferrand because the club have been good to me and my family.''

Burnell won the last of 52 caps at the World Cup in October before retiring from the international arena. But a shortage of props has prompted McGeechan to call for him for the summer tour.
