Edinburgh Reivers today completed the signing of stand-off Gordon Ross from Scottish club champions Heriot's.

The super district's prospects of success in Europe next season were also boosted as new Scotland squad prop Allan Jacobsen extended his contract for two more years.

Ross, 22, who was being chased by several leading English sides after his prodigious scoring feats of the past two seasons, said, "I want to play professional rugby, to make the grade for the Reivers and to play for Scotland.

"Edinburgh Reivers play an attractive and effective brand of rugby and I want to be part of their set-up.

"I know I will be well looked after and will be given the opportunity to continue to develop and improve my game."

Jacobsen, who has earned a place in the Scotland squad to tour New Zealand and Fiji next month, had also been attracting attention from England, and Bath in particular.

"I am delighted to be committing myself to a further two years after being with the Reivers for a season," said 21 year-old Jacobsen.

"It has been a fantastic 12 months for me. My goal was to get established with them and now I find myself in the Scotland set-up."
