Lamaison set for return

Christophe Lamaison who was influential in France's drive to the World Cup final last year says he is ready to play for Brive when they take on Biarritz in the French Cup final here on Thursday.

The 29-year-old stand-off has been out of action since April 5 when he picked up knee injury in Brive's quarter-final win over Stade Francais but declared his fitness after a strict rehabilitation programme.

"During these last few days, I have been training intensively," said Lamaison.

"I took some rest following the injury but then worked hard on my upperbody before rebuilding the strength in my right leg," he added.

It is the second serious injury for the international who has been capped 30 times but missed four of the five Six Nations matches in a disastrous campaign for France.

Lamaison became a national hero after a superb performance in France's stunning semi-final victory over the New Zealand All Blacks at Twickenham in the 1999 World Cup before going on to lose the final against Australia.
