Watsonians swoop for Eagle Kane
Edinburgh
October 10, 2000

Watsonians have signed towering American international Matt Kane on a short-term contract.

The 6ft 7ins second row, capped against Samoa and Ireland earlier in the year, has arrived in Scotland before the national side begin their testing tour of Scotland and Wales.

But before joining up with the American Eagles Squad, Kane will help BT Premiership One basement club Watsonians in their quest to climb off the bottom of the table.

The Edinburgh side have yet to win a game this season and Kane's arrival will give them a much-needed boost.

After the United States have completed their Autumn tour, Kane will return to Watsonians and play until Christmas.

Kane's registration papers were received by the Scottish Rugby Union at the end of last week and all that is needed now is official clearance.

However, it is hoped that Kane will be available to play for Watsonians against Kirkcaldy on Saturday in a vital league game.
