IRB unaware of Epson Cup problems
October 12, 2000

IRB officials are unaware of any problems regarding Epson's continued sponsorship of the Pacific Rim Championship.

Reports on another website claimed that the competition was to end as a result of the loss of the title sponsor, but an IRB official has told scrum this morning that they are not aware of any problems.

"This is the first we have heard of it," she said. "Naturally we are checking into the reports but we are unaware of any decision cancel the competition".

The tournament is in its second year under the name of the Epson Cup, and as a six-team competition. It faced problems earlier in the year as a result of a political crisis in Fiji, but all games between the six teams were completed, with Samoa emerging as the Champions.
