Elephants aiming for the final
October 13, 2000

The Elephants are overwhelming favourites to clinch a berth in the Bankfin Cup final when they take on the lowly Leopards at Telkom Park on Saturday. After finishing top of the log, a win on Saturday will secure the Elephants a home final, where they boast an undefeated record this season.

The home side had a dress rehearsal for Saturday's game when they trounced the Leopards from North West 38-26 last weekend at the same ground. It's doubtful that a week was enough for James Stoffberg's team to absorb the lessons of that defeat.

With trump cards like their loose trio, scrumhalf and captain Chad Alcock (pictured) and devastating fullback Ricardo Loubscher, the Elephants should cruise to the final, probably against the Blue Bulls next week.

Last week Stoffberg's plans revolved around the neutralisation of Elephants No 8 Jacques Greeff, but it didn't come off. The powerful Greeff can expect a lot of close attention again, but with the promising Johan de Kock by his side the Elephants won't be too concerned about the Leopards tactics.
