In a first for Welsh rugby, Swansea RFC this morning held a joint training session with the Wales Rugby League squad at St.Helens Ground, Swansea.

The respective squads joined forces ahead of Swansea's Heineken Cup home fixture with L'Aquila on Saturday, and Wales' World Cup fixture with the Cook Islands at Wrexham on Sunday.

The teams trained under the guidance of Clive Griffiths, coach to both Wales' Rugby League team and Swansea RFC.

Griffiths commented, "It was fascinating to see players of the stature of Scott Gibbs and Iestyn Harris train together. I'm sure that players from both codes have taken away positive aspects of each others game, and we hope that the recent success of Swansea in the Heineken Cup will rub off onto the league boys."
