Tokyo Crusaders arrange memorial game
February 21, 2001

Japanese side Tokyo Crusaders have arranged a memorial game for one of their players who died in tragic circumstances at the end of last year.

New Zealander Gareth MacFadyen died from injuries received in a tragic accident in Auckland on December 18th when at a Hawaiian themed party his grass skirt caught fire causing serious burns. Three days later MacFadyen's parents turned off his life support system.

24 year old MacFadyen had played for Tokyo Crusaders for four years and after a spell back in New Zealand was due to return to the club in the New Year and they have now organised a memorial game against local rivals Yokohama on March 4th. Gareth's parents will be attending the game, and the club hopes that some of his friends from New Zealand will also be able to come over for the match.
