Six Nations organisers announce new dates
March 2, 2001

Six Nations rugby chiefs tonight announced April 29 as the provisional date for Wales and Ireland to play their postponed Championship fixture.

Tournament organisers have also announced May 5/6 and 12/13 as further provisional dates in the event of any more Six Nations postponements.

The Wales/Ireland game, which should have taken place in Cardiff tomorrow, was called off on Tuesday as the foot and mouth outbreak took hold.

Despite the epidemic though, Six Nations chiefs are committed to concluding the Championship, and will continue to monitor the situation.

Doubts have been raised over Wales' trip to France on March 17, and England's Dublin appointment with Ireland a week later.

But tomorrow's Tests between England and Scotland at Twickenham and Italy versus France in Rome are going ahead as planned.
