Stormers coach Alan Solomons showed faith in the team who beat the Chiefs 25-19 at Fedsure Park Newlands on Friday when he announced just one enforced change to the squad for Saturday's Super 12 clash with the Bulls in Pretoria.

A knee injury has ended substitute lock Rob Brink's Super 12 season prematurely and his place on the bench goes to John Slade. According to Solomons, Brink has a slight torn cartilage and it has been bothering him for the last two to three weeks.

"It's been deteriorating and that's why he went to see a specialist, who felt the conservative route would be to have a scope done. The doctor said he could damage himself severely by continuing to play and he is going to go in probably today or tomorrow for a scope.

"Robbie will be out of rugby for three to four weeks and then he can start his rehabilitation." Brink has been a revelation this season since making the shift from loose forward to lock and Solomons described his non-availability as a blow for the side.

"I think he made a brilliant contribution to the side and he played outstanding football. It is a big blow to us, but that said, John Slade is a fantastic bloke and he's been a good member of the squad. He is an experienced Super 12 player and it will create an opportunity for him which is nice for him."

In the past three games Solomons took Quinton Davids off late in the second half to make way for Brink. The coach on Wednesday said he doesn't know if the same thing will happen on Saturday as he doesn't pre-decide those things.

"You have your ideas going into the game as to what you would like to do and then you've got to see how the game pans out and take your decisions from there. I basically take my decisions from week to week," Solomons offered.

"I do think about it, though, and have a variety of options available and then I've got to make decisions during the course of the game. It depends on the state of the game. Certainly the Crusaders and the Chiefs games were played at a hell of a pace."
