BBC bid to show England games
May 7, 2001

The BBC have tabled a £150m bid to win the rights to show England's homes from Satellite company Sky.

Reports in Monday's Daily telegraph claim that the BBC made the offer last week - and are confident that their 10-1 ratio of viewers over Sky will be a crucial factor.

The deal with Sky was made five years ago and netted £87 million for the RFU. "It seemed like a good deal, but when I looked at it again I think that the game was undersold," Francis Baron, the chief executive of the RFU, admitted last week.
