Chiefs lose Gibbes to rib injury
May 10, 2001

Form Chiefs flanker Jonno Gibbes is on his way home and will miss Friday's Super 12 game against the Brumbies due to injury.

Gibbes suffered a rib cartilage injury during training on Wednesday night and will be replaced by lock Chreston Davis.

The 24-year-old Gibbes was making an immediate impact for the Chiefs since returning from injury three games ago. His withdrawal is the only change to the starting 15 that defeated the Hurricanes 51-27 last week.

Young Counties Manukau forward Kristian Ormsby will make the late dash across the Tasman Sea to take Davis' place on the bench.

Gibbes' injury follows the tournament-ending chest injury four weeks ago to flanker Koula Tukino.

Chiefs: Loki Crichton, Roger Randle, Keith Lowen, Bruce Reihana, Mark Ranby, David Hill, Rhys Duggan, Deon Muir (captain), Marty Holah, Mark Cooksley, Royce Willis, Chresten Davis, Deacon Manu, Paul Mitchell, Dennis Hazelton. Reserves: Scott McLeod, Glen Jackson, Danny Lee, Duncan Blaikie, Kristian Ormsby, Michael Collins, Guy Coleman.
