More injury woes for France
June 7, 2001

Injury problems continue to plague France before their departure on Sunday for a two-Test series against South Africa, followed by a one-off Test against the All Blacks in New Zealand.

After having to replace No 8 Francis Ntamack earlier this week due to a neck injury, the French on Thursday had to find a substitute for Ntamack's replacement Thomas Lievremont, who suffers from a stress fracture on the foot.

Coach Bernard Laporte has opted for Patrick Tabacco, a teammate of Ntamack at the Colomiers club. The uncapped Tabacco is a utility loose forward who is equally at home at flank and at the back of the scrum.

The French will prepare in Cape Town for the first Test against the Springboks on June 16 at Johannesburg's Ellis Park Stadium. The second and decisive Test is on June 23 in Durban before the Tricolors head for the land of the long white cloud.
