Dowd and Innes to lead Barbarians against NZ Colts

The Barbarians team selected to give the New Zealand Colts a thorough test before they head to Australia for the Under 21 tournament contains a mix of youth and experience.

Coached by Terry Wright, Bernie McCahill and John Kirwan, the Barbarians team includes wise heads in the form of Craig Dowd and Craig Innes. The game at Eden Park No 2 ground starts at 2.30pm and admission is free.

The New Zealand Colts has long been a stepping stone to the highest level in New Zealand rugby. Two of the best examples are the current NZ Colts manager, Sean Fitzpatrick, and Waitemata Club's finest son,Michael Jones.

Former NZ Barbarians and NZ Colts coach John Hart said the two teams have played a significant role in the development of New Zealand rugby.

"The NZ Colts provides an opportunity for our young players to represent their country against their international counterparts and an endorsement of their potential to go on and represent their country at the highest level," he said.
