France captain Fabien Galthie has signed a two-year deal with Paris giants Stade Francais, the player said on Monday.

Scrumhalf Galthie, 32, joins European Cup finalists Stade after 20 years playing with Colomiers.

The player confirmed the deal to AFP during the Tricolors' stop-off in Singapore on Monday. France are travelling to New Zealand following a two-Test series in South Africa.

"I have decided to change clubs, that's it," said Galthie, who is skippering France in the absence of Fabien Pelous during the southern hemisphere tour.

Galthie, capped 42 times by France since making his debut in 1991, will replace Christophe Laussucq, who has been transferred to Begles-Bordeaux. - Sapa-AFP
