Larkham again in doubt
July 8, 2001

The Wallabies have received a mixed injury report following Saturday's 35-14 series-levelling victory against the Lions at Melbourne's Colonial Stadium.
Five-eight Stephen Larkham is again in doubt with an arm injury, while lock David Giffin has a rib problem.

Larkham was in doubt for the Second Test after straining elbow ligaments at the Gabba and in Melbourne was forced to get through a mountain of defensive work. The Lions ball runners, with No.8 Scott Quinnell in particular, made a concerted effort to target Larkham in defence.

Both players took part in a short recovery session on Sunday morning before the team was due to fly to Sydney, but now face an anxious wait to see whether they can play in Saturday's third Test.

The Wallaby camp was boosted, however, by the news winger Anrdew Walker and fullback Matt Burke should be fit to play.

Walker left the field in Melbourne in the second half with a suspected fractured cheekbone but x-rays did not show any breaks. Burke, who scored 25 points with a try, six penalties and a conversion, hurt his shoulder during the bruising match but has also been cleared to play next week.
