White prepares for his day in court
August 8, 2001

England prop Julian White will seek to have a three-year contract with Bristol Shoguns torn up today when his legal action against the club returns to court.

The former Saracens forward is to ask Judge Havelock-Allan QC at Bristol's Mercantile Court to agree that his contract with the club contains an opt-out clause.

After a two-and-half-hour hearing held in Chambers in May the judge agreed that White could sign for another club on the basis that he should not be forced to play for a club he does not want to play for.

However, should it transpire at the full hearing that the opt-out clause does not exist, White could be required to pay Bristol damages.
